IM Duong of Montreal to play in 2007 Canadian Open


International Master Duong Thanh Nha of Montreal has confirmed his participation in the 2007 Canadian Open Chess Championship.

A fixture for nearly 20 years on the Quebec chess scene, IM Duong was the 1988 Quebec Junior Champion ahead of Alexandre Lesiege. IM Duong finished second at the 1999 Canadian Closed Zonal, behind GM Lesiege.

IM Duong is the sixth Canadian International Master to register for the Canadian Open, joining IMs Tomas Krnan, Artem Samsonkin, Leonid Gerzhoy, Tom O'Donnell and Lawrence Day.
